Local Law Firm Combine with Charity to Help Boys and Girls Club
Garden City law firm, Rosenberg & Fortuna LLP, recently got together with a local charity to recycle some of its old technology equipment to benefit an area Boys and Girls Club. According to Paul Shatz, spokesman for Rosenberg & Fortuna, “it seemed a shame to just dispose of old equipment which still had a useful life left for someone else. We upgraded our technology, but our old technology was still viable for someone else.” At that point Shatz contacted non-for-profit www.comp4kids.org for advice on recycling options.
Jon Zimmerman, founder of the local non-for-profit company, “We explained to Paul that sometimes refurbishment is a better way to go then recycling. We told Paul that the Hicksville Boys and Girls Club needed computers exactly like the one that he no longer needed.” At that point the comp4kids arranged to have the ‘old’ computers at Paul’s firm wiped clean of their personal information, the computers we picked up, and then delivered to their home at the Hicksville Boys and Girls Club. According to Tom Bruno executive director of the club, “We are thrilled to have generous benefactor like Rosenberg&Fortuna” helping us help kids.
"Local corporations and individuals have been incredibly generous in donating computers that they were no longer using, and through our efforts, we are refurbishing them for those that are without computers," said Zimmerman. "I like to thank all those generous donors of computers and would like to encourage volunteers from the community to assist with this worthwhile program." If you would like to make a donation, volunteer, know of an eligible recipient, or if your company is interested in receiving free data destruction with its donation, please contactwww.comp4kids.org or Jon Zimmerman at 516 244 1809.
